Tick...Tick...Tick...BLOG!!!

Just a few of the gajillions of pictures I've taken...
My Shy Guy
His fish - no worries; we let it go

Fear not - he was 'The Hulk'

Photoshop is going to make my head implode. Not EXplode, but IMplode. Lots of things EXplode. Even silly things explode. Ethan, our ten year old, put his Cherry Dr. Pepper in the freezer the other night before dinner to get it "super cold." Long story short: He forgot about it and when I opened the freezer the next day, there was Cherry Dr. Pepper everywhere; his pop had EXploded.
This photoshop crisis is not just a Cherry Dr. Pepper that got a little too chill. It's a little more serious than that folks. There's photoshop. Then there's a dying star. What does a gajillion year old star do when it dies? I'm not quite sure either. BUT! I know it implodes on itself in the end. That's serious. That's like, holy toledo, that star just lived longer than we can even imagine and when it finally died it imploded. That's impressive. That's crazy. That's photoshop. And that's what it'll do to your head.

Perhaps I should just read a tutorial or four, but I'm that person who buys a bookcase and doesn't read the instructions - I just spread out all the parts, clear a space on the wall for the finished product and have-at-it.

Now let me tell you about my five year plan, which seems completely unrelated to my photoshop whoas, but trust me, it's toooootally photoshop related: I want to start a photography business.

Now I know everyone who knows me is probably rubbing at their chins thinking, "Didn't she just commission into the Air Force?" Why yes. I did. And I'm excited about my new career and will kickass at it and give it my all for all the years I've committed myself to it. However, what I really love to do is take pictures. I haven't gone to school for photography, I haven't taken classes, I just think I have a natural eye for it. Don't get me wrong - I have TONS to learn, but that's just it, I want to learn those TONS of things I need to learn. And that alone says a lot because I loathe school and studying and everything related to putting a textbook in a backpack and receiving a grade. The only subjects I've ever cared about related to art, music, writing, or psychology. And maybe that, ladies and gentlemen, is why it took me so long to finish college.

Okay. Getting a little off course. Anyhow, as I was saying, I've been playing with photoshop to make a custom header for this here blog. Yee-haw. And I've also used it attempting to edit some pictures I've taken. And let me tell you something - I can play with it for two hours straight (rather than getting some much needed sleep) and at the end of that two hours what have I learned? Not a DAMN thing. Ha! No, but seriously - it's not funny.

Sigh. Where was I? Ah! Five year plan. Yes.
So, I plan to learn all those tons of things about photography, I plan to continue to take my camera with me everywhere, because, you never know. I plan to continue to opt for a lens for my wedding anniversary instead of a bigger ring. I plan to save money, take pictures, and build a portfolio. I plan to, within five years, be able to earn a decent living as a photographer.

In the meantime, I hope my head stays intact...because I'm kinda fond of it.
