I thought I'd update everyone because four times in one week (this week) and numerous times over the last few months I've been asked when Seth and I are PCSing (Permanent Change of Station for all my nonmilitary peeps, which essentially means IT'S TIME TO MOVE). As I'm sure you all recall from here, Love finished flight school in November and with graduation comes a PCS. Well, he's flying the F15E so his first stop is Seymour-Johnson AFB in North Carolina. And since we're both military (otherwise referred to as mil-to-mil) we have what's called "join spouse preference," this is where you typically get to "follow" your spouse to whatever assignment he or she is given so that you can remain together in one household rather than living across the country or Earth from each other because Lord knows we do that enough with all the TDYs and future deployments.
Here's where it gets a little tricky - the whole join spouse thing is only when there is a PCS, they will not honor it if your spouse is simply going to training, even if that training is a year long (like Seth's is). So even though the movers are coming to pack him up and he is essentially PCSing for all contents and purposes, technically he's just going to training, therefore, they won't honor our join spouse preference.
If you know me you know that I am all about my family and the last thing I want is my children in New Mexico, myself in Florida and the hubby in North Carolina - I would surely have at least two melt downs before my favorite Florida girlfriend slapped the taste out of my mouth and kept it real by telling me to pull my shit together. Oh how I love you Sara Consuela (Consuela's not really her middle name - inside joke). But I've still gotta try to keep us together, and I won't bore you with all the confusing details but we're still attempting to get me to North Carolina with Seth despite the fact that he'll be a student rather than permanent party.
I'm trying to prepare myself for the final answer to be a big fat NO, but I'm still holding out hope. So, to clear up any confusion and to avoid needing to tell this story 149 times, as of now, Seth is PCSing to North Carolina this summer and I have to stay here in Florida. I guess I shouldn't complain, I mean, we live in a tourist area; people pay loads of money to come stay in the condos and vacation here in Destin, I can walk across the street to the beach, the shopping is amazing, the food is yummy, winter was nearly nonexistent and the palm trees make me smile. So no, I shouldn't complain. But I love being around my brood and my Love and I'd rather live in a van down by the river (are you old enough to get that SNL reference?) if it meant I got to wake up to those four every morning.
With that being said, it's video time:
