Colors in Curtains

I must confess that I got a bit side-tracked with Ariana’s room overhaul. But then again that should be of no surprise because I get side-tracked easily, not by shiny things or anything, well…okay sometimes by shiney things but around the house I only get side-tracked by other projects. So when the projects in her room started to overwhelm me I changed it up a bit and tackled other small random projects. Now that I have a renewed sense of git-er-done in my system I’m ready to tackle this room and finish it up within the next few weeks (fingers crossed). For now I’m waiting on her armoire to dry so that I can load it up with all her fun accessories so in the meantime I turned to her curtains.

I have always loved white sheers. I love natural light and white sheers let the right amount of light in while still dressing up a window. And since she has bold, bright, and fun colors within her furniture I thought I’d leave the curtains a bit neutral so that we didn’t get bright-colored-out (yeah, I just made that phrase up, you know you wanna use it). So in came the decision to use a pair of white sheers on her window. I put 'em up and they were cute but I felt like they were lacking a bit of pizazz since the rest of her room is bold and bright. I contemplated getting an awesome yellow fabric and making panels to flank each side of the widow but in the end I simply made a strand of hearts and swooped it across her curtain rod. *forgive the photos, it's tough to capture the hearts' true color since the sun is coming through the window - and her walls look pink here but they're not*

I’m diggin’ it. It brings in just enough color without being to annoying and best of all it was free because I already had the curtains and hearts on hand. Are the colors familiar? That’s because they’re paint swatches I scooped up in my quest to find a color scheme for her room. When I found all the colors I wanted to use I still had a ton of paint chips just chillin’ in a bucket with other neglected craft stuff that needs organized. So I whipped out my favorite heart punch and punched away. Then I used a needle and thread to string it all together. Ta-da! Heart strand!

And who knows, maybe once I get her headboard made (because let's face it, her bed looks so sad sans headboard) and her new duvet on her bed (scored it on sale at Pottery Barn Teen) I may decide that I’m still still diggin' the additional yellow curtain panels idea. We shall see…
