Kids Say the Darnedest

As I've mentioned before, I keep a journal of all the silly/clever/witty/insert adjective things the kids say. Seriously, I have two journals full. For this week's 'Kid Post' I thought I'd share a few with ya'll. So without further ado...
  • When getting into the hot truck that was parked in the driveway in the hot North Carolina heat Owen says, as he fanned himself in an attempt to cool down, “I hope tomorrow it’s Winter!”
  • While on the lookout for a Starbucks Owen says to Ariana very sternly, “Keep your eye out, Ariana. Keep! It! Out!”
  • After Ari and Ethan finished each other’s sentences several times Ari said, “I think me and Ethan share a brain; like I have a part of Ethan’s brain and he has a part of my brain.” Owen, feeling left out, asks, “And me?” Ariana looked at him, rolled her eyes and said, “You have a miiiiiind of your own!”
  • Owen, after watching Jersey jump a far distance, “Mom, I want to be a cat because they are like ninjas – Little. Tiny. Baby ninjas.”
  • Owen, after being outside in the 90+ degree heat, “I’M SWEATING LIKE A MONKEY!!!! Even though I don’t know if monkeys sweat or not…”
  • As he was showing off some of the toys he got for his birthday Owen says, very seriously, “And I got a doctor kit just in case someone is dead.”
  • After getting several correct math problems (that a six year old typically wouldn’t be able to solve) I asked Owen if he was sure he wasn’t getting help from his brother or sister. He insisted he was getting the answers all on his own. He ran off to his room for a minute and came back and said, “I know what’s 16 times 16.” Me: What Owen: 24 Me: Nope. 256, even I had to use a calculator Owen: turning toward his bedroom and yells, “ARI! YOU WERE WRONG!!!!”
  • Shortly after the above conversation^^^^ Owen says to me: Momma, I know what's 8 times 8. Me: What? Owen: 16 Me: Are you sure about that? Owen: Yup, and guess how I know that? Me: How? Owen: Because I'm smart.
  • Owen: "Sometimes I have to do this" leans head on hand, "because sometimes my head gets heavy."

I've got a lot more where that came from,

Lorri
