Slice the Turtle

Reptiles. They fill a significant part of my life - at least twice a week one of my children burst through the front door asking me to "COME SEE WHAT WE GOT!"

It's been frogs, tadpoles, lizards, frogs, insects, frogs, turtles, frogs. Are you sensing a theme? The most recent find of my brood is a turtle. Homeboy ended up living in our yard for days, but one day we came home and he finally moved on in his turtle journeys. But while he graced us with his presence he got loads of attention.

was understandable shy at first, but eventually he realized that us crazy Rumbarger folk weren't going anywhere, so he finally came out of his shell. Literally.

Ethan typically likes to observe the creatures that find their way to our house from afar. As in, he's not generally down to handle them. Ari, on the other hand, is all up in these creatures' kool-aid - you'd think she was a zoo keeper or somethin'. The kid carries them around like a pro. Feeds them. Cares for them. Even if they are only sticking around for a few minutes.

Owen, like most six year olds, is enthralled for 3point2 seconds then he moves on to his next activity.

And when you caught things like this:

You end up looking like this:

But at least the mud, boots, and most importantly, the random creatures stay outdoors.

Am I the only one with a girly daughter that still has a bit of rough and tough in her? Or lizards, turtles, and frogs at your door several times a week?
