My girl Kat. Man, we met and all was well...at first. Emphasis on at first. We were workout buddies, waking up at 4 and 5 in the morning to hit the gym before class started. But then the girly sass set in. And we were in a car driving from lunch with three other people when she started expressing what was making her so annoyed with me. And I flipped shit. I just went off. In a car full of people that I had only known for a few weeks. #GirlDrama
After that we were civil, saying hi and bye when we saw each other but there were no more workouts or lunches or evening get-togethers planned directly with one another. If we ended up in the same place it was because we either 1. had to be or 2. had mutual friends. But then we made amends. I'm a dude like that. I can have a screaming match with you then be your pal a week later. And we made amends just in time because we ended up going to a second TDY together. And guess what, we were in the same flight/class again. We were attached at the hip most the time. And we kept in touch even after each went back to our permanent duty stations. I met her beautiful boys when they came to visit me in Destin. We had Skype dates so much that my hubby said he felt like he was sharing me with her. But now she's deployed. And we still have Skype dates, but not nearly as often. And we still text, but not nearly as often. And when talking to her the last time I realized how unbelievably crazy it is that we got so close in the five short months we were TDY together, especially since I'm not one to get close to people easily. Then it made me think of my other close friends and all closest relationships had similar sassy starts.
Take Lorri for instance. Yep, that's her name. And yes, it's spelled the same as mine. #Craycray
We met a work and had an unspoken hate for each other, but soon we were soul sister as we call it. That's my Texas girl.
And then there's Ami, or Sexy Bitch, as I so eloquently call her. Inside joke. She stuck her nose up at me when I moved in next door to her after my divorce. I was newly single and she saw her hubby and I talking. She didn't know that he recognized me from ROTC so she thought I was trying to chat up her man. Long story short we quickly became besties. She's my number one. My New Mexico girl.
And Sara. We didn't start out with any sass but I definitely was hesitant to get to know her because 1. that's just not me and 2. we are TOTAL OPPOSITES. The simplest way I know to put it is...she's a little bit country and I'm a little bit rock 'n roll. But they say opposites attract, right?
So that's me reminiscing on my best girls. If you can't tell I'm on a super sappy, sentimental kick lately. And I may not get close to many but I've grown to love these four ladies and I'm so very grateful to have them. And even though we have moved away from each other, or are going to be moving from each other soon, I'm so very happy that we have been able to remain close. And that when we see each other it's like we never spent more than a day apart. So here's telling you that I love each of you a whole super lotta! *imagine me saying that in Owey's voice* ;)
Luh you girls. Muah!
Lor
