Av's Faves

We all know that kids' favourites change with the wind. One week Avery is toting her toy cow with her everywhere and the next it's chopped liver hamburger. Too much?

So instead of my favourite finds for this week I thought I'd share Av's because seriously, when we find what makes our kids happy, it makes us happy. Can I can an amen and a cocktail?!

First and foremost the kid is a playground junkie. And I'm not complaining because it wears. her. out. Two hour naps post-playground are the norm as of late. And she picks up random leaves and sticks and hands them to me immediately. She does that with things I tell her are "no-touch". I think it's her way of getting the satisfaction of actually touching it but then giving it straight to me since she knows she isn't supposed to touch/have it. Playground and leaves. Favourites one and two.

Love numero tres? Raisins. She can eat half a box in one sitting. And by sitting I mean she's wondering about playing and comes to me to say "num num", opens her mouth, I pop a raisin in, and she goes back to playing.
Shoes. Anytime she sees shoes she wants to put them on. Her chucks are her current fave, she has this specific style. We used to have our frequently worn shoes in a holder by the door but now that the movers came and we are without our furniture the shoes are just laying out in the open usually in a pile at the front door frat-boy style meaning she has access to them. And she will put on shoe after shoe. It's free entertainment so I don't interrupt unless she attempts to put the sole in her mouth. It's happened.

Her blankie. It's the first thing I ever crocheted and it took me a year to complete. Shit you not. I was working at the time and a lady in my building would teach me to crochet on my lunch break. I worked on my masterpiece on and off and finally finished it a few months after our little peanut was born. Av isn't a big blanket wearer and typically kicks them off but she doesn't mind this one as much. And she likes it mainly to play pee-a-boo. Add that to the favourite list also: peek-a-boo.

Teething Ring. Seth took her to the store with him one day and came back home with this teether among other things. And whatdaya know she loves it. She carries it around and munches on it constantly.

We'll see how long all these continue to be faves of hers, but in the meantime I'm taking full advantage of those two hour playground induced naps. Pass the Prosecco.

  1. Isn't so funny how their favorites change so often? My son Luke loves his "D" (blankie) and is obsessed with ALL things hockey right now!
