12-03

That's Seth's class number. Class 12-03 officially graduated on Friday. They got their wings. I'm super proud of my boyfriend.

Just a few weeks ago they had their drop night, that's when Seth found out he got his first pick - F15s

And that he's heading to Seymour-Johnson for training.

Me in all my dorky crafty glory gave him this on drop night:

And yes, I already had the silhouette of the 15 in the frame because I was that confident that he was going to get his top choice. Some call it cockiness, I call it confidence.

But unlike their laid back, beer drinking, cat-callin', flight suit wearin,' ridiculous picture takin' drop night...

...friday was the more serious event (though they still somehow managed to squeeze beer into the ceremony), the official graduation where they got their wings. I pinned on Seth's wings, and they had a photographer present so I wasn't my usually snap-happy self, besides, I'm not skilled enough to take the photograph and be on stage. Fear not, when we get the pictures from the photographer I'll post them. Although now that I think about it I totally put my back to the audience (unintentionally) as I was pinning on his wings so I guess we won't truly have a picture of me in action. And then I was told by a few of his classmates that he didn't even smile in the picture we took immediately following his pinning. It's like, when he puts his uniform on, he doesn't smile in pictures, as if he's not allowed. I guess it's just a habit from the training he's been through. Doesn't stop me from giving him crap about it though.

We did, however, have the above picture snapped as we were leaving the ceremony. It'll have to work for now. And if you look closely you can see that I too have my habits I need to break (I'm disappointed in myself). All my military peeps will know what I'm referring to, but in case you're not in the service, I'll tell ya; check out my right hand. I totally look like I'm at attention! And even Love looks as if he's in the midst of doing the same to his left hand. Shame on us. I didn't even realize I was guilty of this terrible travesty until I was going through my camera the next day. I guess I won't be giving Seth grief for not smiling in his pictures from now on.

And my Love also kept his streak of being "completely awesome" (as I call it) alive; he got DG!

Again, for those nonmilitary folks, 'DG' stands for 'Distinguished Graduate.' It's an award given in training when you finish at the top of your class. So far he's received DG at every training he's been to while on active duty. Such an overachiever, that guy. But seriously, I'm beyond proud of him. Not simply because he's DG, I mean, I've known plenty of DG's that are "DG Chasers" as they're referred to, or as I like to call them, 'douche canoes.' But Seth truly is always one of the best at what he does and it just comes so naturally to him. He doesn't have to block everything else out, he doesn't have to step on people, he doesn't have to neglect his family, and most importantly - he doesn't have to be a douche canoe. He's just naturally a leader, naturally a people person, naturally a thinker, charismatic, charming, funny, smart, brilliant. He's just naturally the best at everything he does. And I respect that more than he'll ever know.

Congrats class 12-03. And good luck.

Xo,

Lor
